Failing Deck Pier

This deck pier in the Eureka area was not excavated deep enough in the backfill to rest on undisturbed soil. The concrete pier is tilting under its load as the uncompacted fill it sits on is compressing. The solution is to temporarily support the deck, remove the existing pier, excavate a new pier that will rest on undisturbed soil and re-pour another concrete pier. Not a small, inexpensive project.
